That’s why this article from TreeHugger caught my attention – an eco-friendly fake lawn? Turns out ForeverLawn has come up with a better version of your traditional Astroturf. Not only is it softer but they have come up with several varieties depending on your need all while maintaining it as a green product. ForeverLawn is made from recycled plastic water bottles and lasts around 12-15 years. Once you are done with your lawn – you can throw it in your recycling bin since it claims to be 100% recyclable.

As much as I strive to live green, the one area I have not totally been able to embrace is natural cleaning products. I have not had very good results using some of the more environmentally friendlier options such as white vinegar and baking soda. I have to work harder to clean my home with unsatisfactory results.

Arm & Hammer has come out with a line of Essentials products. These are plant based cleaning formulas that are packaged to have less waste then their other green cleaning competitors. It’s sold with a concentrated smaller bottle and an empty, refillable spray bottle. It claims to have the same cleaning power as traditional cleaners while reducing the amount of waste.

Although I am still a bit skeptical on the strength of the cleaning capacity, I’m willing to test out the product to help reduce waste.

As a mother of a young child and with another one on the way, I have been concerned about what paint to use as we prepare to redecorate our green home. It turns out that Benjamin Moore has a new line of paint called Natura Paint they claim is virtually odorless and dries faster then other brands. On their website, Natura has a green promise that assures consumers that their product is environmentally friendly and often exceeds the strictest industry standards. This zero-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) product not only has less fumes but the other benefits include having lower toxins, not deemed a hazardous waste item and is water-based for easier clean up. There are actually several other options for natural paints but this is one of the most recent ones on the market.

Looking to reduce your paper towel use and save money? SKOY cloths may be your answer to shrinking your garbage while saving money. SKOY is an absorbent, biodegradable and multi-use cloth which replaces the use of sponges and paper towels.
